3.28.04
More Sudbury news: Jeri Ryan (Gillian) and Esai Morales (Gary) have been cast, and filming of the pilot presentation is underway. I have been getting massive amounts of email asking when the 'Fashion' pages will be back up. :) It is my next project - I am working on it right now. I am completely redesigning them, so it will take a week or two. But it's coming!

3.10.04
More news on the Sudbury pilot - about the possibility of Kim Delaney joining the cast, as well as actress Kat Dennings, who I can only assume would play one of the youngest generation - equivalent to Kylie and Antonia.

3.5.04
It looks like Kim Delaney (NYPD Blue) is in final negotiations to star in the Sudbury pilot. I can only assume she'd be playing Sally. Interesting! Also, added links for Practical Magic items (DVD, soundtrack, etc). I have sold a couple of rings, and four postcards - everyone seems to love these! If you are interested, take a look... when I run out, that's all there is.

2.8.04
A few new articles on the proposed Practical Magic series, Sudbury. Includes a couple of older articles, as well as some from the last week or so.

1.14.04
Just a few quick changes - fixed some things that were broken (like the Newsletter form, the Miscellaneous images in the Image Galleries, and the Fan Art page). I'm sure I'll find more that's broken - so many links... so many links!

1.13.04

Oooh! Can you believe it? The site redesign actually happened! I was aiming for Practical Magic's 5th anniversary (as noted below), and then the fires occured here in San Diego... my work and school were both affected, though not permanently, thankfully. That period threw everything into a tizzy, and I haven't had time to get back to it until now.... But here it is! Now some of you will doubtless be sad to see the old design go - I know a lot of you loved it. But I felt it was time for something fresh and new. Hopefully you will like it - I do.

A note: I had to change the site's email address. After 3+ good years at the last one, the spam became unbearable. This is also why you may not have gotten an answer if you've written in the last 6 months. Please refer to this one in the future.

New things? Seperate areas for the film; Alice Hoffman and the Practical Magic book; the proposed Practical Magic television show; and everything else. There are some new things in all that, I'm afraid I don't have a list at the moment though. One thing some of you will find fantastic are better scans of the house's elevations and plans. Woohoo! Also, I've used the best and largest images available in the image galleries and the settings areas - I wish I could find better and larger still, but many of these are better than the images on the old site.

I've left the old updates up, though I've removed most of the links. Most of the areas have corresponding pages on the new site, though I have left somethings out. And other things will be added later - not everything is fully complete. I will soon add pages to the film area for the Fashions, and the merchandise pages. (There are 2 items currently available - the Practical Magic promotional postcard, and a promotional replica of Jimmy's skull ring; go here for more information.) I will also be adding a new craft area - just need to find the time to get it right. Well, I hope you enjoy your browse around the new digs. To be continued....

10.16.03
It has been 5 years since the release of Practical Magic here in the U.S. I can hardly believe it - where does the time go?

I have been working on the site redesign for weeks now - after work and classes - but I'm still not done! I forgot how very much information and how many images there are to deal with.... I am well over half done, and will certainly have the redesign up by Halloween. I thought about putting up the incomplete version for the anniversary, but I never like to do anything less than complete. Which is probably why I haven't changed the site in over a year. ;)

What can you look forward to with the new site? In addition to a new look (I know a lot of you love the look of the site now, but change can be good too), there will be more information, better and larger versions of images, (hopefully) it will be easier to navigate, and an expanded side of the site for Alice Hoffman and the potential new television show on CBS. That's just some of what you can look forward to in the coming weeks - so please check back! :)

9.8.02
A little bit slower than I had intended, but here are the first 2 of the items that Stephen Alesch, the art director of Practical Magic, sent me. They are scans of the Floor plans for the first and second floors of the PM house! I know that this is what many of you have been wanting to see, and I am glad that they can finally be provided for you. Please note that there is to be no duplication or reproduction of these images.

I apologize for the poor quality of the scans. I have tried them 5 different ways, but I think my 4 year old scanner is about to give up the ghost, so to speak. I will work on getting better, and bigger, scans in the future. To that end, if you would like you can donate a dollar (or however much you want) to Amas Veritas through Paypal using the button above, using a credit card or your checking account - it's also secure. It will help to keep the site running, and if enough of you do it, I can afford a new scanner. *laugh* I hate to ask for donations, but this site does cost quite a bit to keep up. It's only for those of you who want to, of course!

7.28.02
To begin with, thanks to Andrea for the Newsletter service (NotifyList) suggestion. A reminder to everyone, if you haven't signed up for the new (as of 7.26.02) Amas Veritas Newsletter service, using a form like that above, please do so. I have sent out notification to everyone signed up for the old Newsletter, but you also have to confirm with NotifyList that you want to be signed up for the new Newsletter. If you sign up, be sure to click on the link in the email that NotifyList sends to you, to be added to the Newsletter List.

As for updates, I have added to the Lyrics for the Practical Magic soundtrack after getting several requests to do so.

Also, my eternal gratitude to Lisa Johnstone for transcribing the documentaries Making the Magic and Casting the Spell from the Practical Magic DVD (the links can be found on the In Depth page). Great work!

And, wonderfully, I have heard back from Stephen Alesch, the art director for Practical Magic, and will have some updates including information and such shortly. To learn about it first, just sign up for the Newsletter! *grin*

7.20.02
A quick question for all of you regarding the Newsletter. I have been trying to find a (hopefully) free service with which to do the Amas Veritas Newsletter, as I now have far too many subscribers to do it by hand. So far, all of the services I have found have a limit of 50 or so email addresses, and I currently have over 200 people subscribed. Can anyone let me know of a service that can handle at least 200 email addresses? I haven't done Newsletters (except on my own) before, and could really use some advice. Thank you! (please send email to ...)

6.24.02
And here I am, as promised! I know some of you may not have believed it. *laugh* First, I would like to say thank you to everyone who emailed me with praise for the site and inquiries about both the site and myself during my absense. I may never get through the hundreds of emails in my backlog, but thank you nonetheless! I will begin replying to new emails now, so if you have a pressing question that I haven't answered yet, you may want to resend it.

As for the Newsletter, I will send a new edition next week, once I sort through all the new email addresses to be added. In it I will include information on the PM Costume Contest, whatever happened to Steven Alesch, and what I will be doing with the site in the future. If you haven't already signed up, or if you've changed email addresses, sign up now.

What updates have I to offer? Well, to the In Depth section I have added pages for Alice Hoffman, the author of the book Practical Magic; and for the stars of the movie: Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Dianne Wiest, and Stockard Channing. Other stars will get pages at a later date.

In the Craft section, I have completed the Sabbats pages, adding Candlemas/Imbolc, Ostara, Beltane, Midsummer, and Lammas, as well as updating the other Sabbats pages. I also added a few new pages of books to the Craft Bookstore.

I realize the Message Boards and Chat Room are down. The service (Multicity) that I was using changed from free to fee, and I could not afford the additional expense. I will look into other free options over the next few weeks, and plan to make other changes and updates, as well. Look for a new update in 3 - 4 weeks. Until then, enjoy your summer. : )

6.21.02
Your webmistress errant has returned! I apologize for the long absense, but sometimes a break is necessary. I will spend the weekend cleaning up the site and making changes, so expect an update this coming Monday, the 24th. And to everyone, Happy Midsummer!

12.21.01
Happy Holidays to everyone! I wish you all a bright and blessed season, continuing throughout the new year. Updates this month include:

Practical Magic Fan Art: this section will be for art and items inspired by the movie Practical Magic, and its characters. If you have something you would like to contribute, please contact me.

Redesign of the Craft section, to make it easier to navigate and more user friendly (hopefully). Also, the Craft Bookstore: it's not complete yet, but will be added to over the coming months. Go there for book suggestions and to browse through books on everything from altars to Yule.

Practical Magic Locations and Travel area. Have you ever wanted to know more about the areas where the movie was filmed? Or wanted to visit the locations? Here you will find more about these places, and information to help you on your quest.

A page on the charity auction for the Dress that Sandra Bullock wore to the Practical Magic premiere.

Added a couple of listings to the local connections section (New York and Louisiana). If you have any for your area or the web, please let me know.

11.30.01
If you are going to shop online this holiday season, please do so by using one of the links on the Amas Veritas web site. By using these links, the site earns about 5% on your purchases (it costs you nothing), which helps to keep Amas Veritas up and running. A link to amazon.com is above. Thank you. (Note: a regular update to the site will be up around December 16)

11.16.01
I have had a rough time this past month, with two relatives in and out of the hospital, and various other occurances, so I have not had time to update the site much. I have created a Yule page in the Sabbats section, and a page of Yule merchandise suggestions for you to enjoy. I hope to do a full update around the beginning of December. Thank you for understanding.

11.11.01
I am currently auctioning off a group of clothing on eBay, some of which reminds me of clothes that Gillian might wear. It is mostly clothing made of natural fibers, from India. Please take a look if you think you'd be interested. Bidding will also help support Amas Veritas. *smile*

10.16.01
Today is the three year anniversary of the opening of Practical Magic, the 3 year (or so) anniversary of my original site, and the 1 year anniversary of Amas Veritas. What better present than the following (taken from the Amas Veritas Newsletter, Vol.2 No.1, 10/16/01):

Okay, get your keyboards ready... I've gotten in touch with Stephen Alesch and Robin Standefer, the art director/production designer for Practical Magic. They have kindly agreed to answer some questions about the house and set for the site, so... send me your questions! What have you always wanted to know about the house? About the decorations? Send all your questions to me, and I will sort through them and ask the most frequently asked ones. (I will be out of town until October 26, but will respond and go through them all then) What a wonderful opportunity!

Unfortunately, Mr Alesch already let me know that house plans/blueprints are not available (the answer to by far the most frequently asked question), as Warner Bros owns the rights to everything created for the film, and he and Ms. Standefer are not allowed to profit (sell plans, etc) from what they did for the movie. That aside, what else do you want to know? Please email all questions to me. (you can also use the mail form)

Finally, I hope that you are considering entering the Amas Veritas Costume Contest. :) It should be a lot of fun. Again, remember that I will be out of town until October 26, but don't hesitate to email your questions and costume entries now.

Thank you,
Adrienne

10.12.01
A few days early, but - One year! Amazing, but true. I would like to thank everyone who has supported this site - from its original incarnation beginning in 1998, to those who continue to visit now. For the one year anniversary of Amas Veritas, I've created several new features and made a few updates. I thought I'd follow a theme this month, one of connecting visitors and fans to one another, and expanding our community. Site changes are as follows:

Message Boards - there are now message boards for the following topics: Practical Magic/In Depth (the movie itself, the stars, the book by Alice Hoffman, other In Depth topics; this is also the default board for questions/topics that don't fit into the other two categories); Settings (the house inside & out, design, fashions, Verbena, etc); and Practical Witchcraft (kitchen witchery, wicca, white magic, and so on). These are the places to ask questions, share thoughts, ideas, and offer answers.

I've also started an Amas Veritas - Practical Magic Chat Room. It runs on a Java applet, so please wait for the page to load (about 100K). I will assign 'meeting' times soon, so you will know when you can drop by to discuss specific topics. *smile*

The Local Connections area is to be used by you, and created by you. It is a place to find Owens-ish stores, design ideas, craft/Wicca resources (such as circles and shops) and other resources in your area. Also includes online information. Please take a look, and offer your own suggestions.

There is a new page of images, featuring the Children of Practical Magic. Specifically, young Sally (Camilla Belle), young Gillian ( ), Antonia (Alexandra Artrip), and Kylie (Evan Rachel Wood).

There are new pages in the Merchadise area, including Outdoor items (windchimes, bird feeders, other items for an Owens' yard); Conservatory items (planters, garden stakes, etc); and Crabtree & Evelyn products, for those who enjoy botanical soaps, lotions, and so on. I've also updated/removed old items which have sold out.

Verbena has been added to, with more images of the store and of Sally, and the links page (Verbena Online) is now seperate.

I've added even more Mistakes which have been sent to me, and updated the look of the Settings intro page, and the Craft page.

If you haven't signed the Message Book yet, please do so. It's always nice to see who is enjoying the site - and it gives me encouragement to keep expanding! Thanks to all of you for your words, emails, and love of Practical Magic.

9.16.01
Let me start by expressing my sadness over the events of September 11, 2001. I am sure you all join in thoughts and prayers for those who were killed and injured, for their families, their friends, and for all of us, as a nation. I hope that you will contribute - by giving blood, or by donating time or money. You can contribute to the Red Cross through Amazon.com's secure server - just use the link above (neither Amazon nore I make any profit), or by calling 1-800-HelpNow.

There are many updates this month. In the indepth section, there is the following: a behind-the scenes page, with photographs of the filming; a bit about the animals from the movie and their treatment on set; an interview with the special effects producer for the movie; and a press release for Cinesite, the special effects company.

In the multimedia section, I've added links to screensavers, and startup/shutdown screen images to customize your computer.

In the craft section, I've updated the Sabbats page, and added pages for Mabon, and Samhain, and, the more secular version, Halloween.

A new page with Verbena, Sally's store, in mind. Includes links to makers of botanical beauty items, and books on how to do it yourself.

Finally, I've updated the Costume Contest page, and added ideas for Sally, Gillian, the Aunts, and witch costumes.

Next month will be Amas Veritas' one-year anniversary. Amazing! Expect more updates, particularly centered around connecting Practical Magic/Amas Veritas fans.

8.29.01
I've just gotten my computer back from where it was stored while I was on vacation. As a result, it will probably be the middle of September before I do an 'official' update for the site; the next issue of the Newsletter will go out then, as well. I will also definitely have more information on the Costume Contest up then. I hope that you have all had a wonderful summer - it's starting to feel a bit like autumn around here, but there's always the chance of an Indian Summer. If you haven't seen The Others yet, I highly recommend it. Very spooky. :)

7.28.01
The Others, Nicole Kidman's new gothic ghost story, opens in the U.S. on August 10. Although I haven't been able to find an official site, here is the site from Counting Down. Be sure to see it if you have a chance! I'll be back in about a month. - Adrienne

7.16.01
More than 14,000 visitors! The counter seems to be steadily ticking along, and the site seems to be finally getting more visitors. Or perhaps everyone is just checking to see if I've put the Craft section up yet? *laugh* Well, the basics are up - visit the Craft section now! It will be fleshed out and expanded over the following months. I promise. :) There are some suggestions for basic books about the Craft, as well as some especially for teens. Also, a page on some Practical Magic auctions that Warner Brothers held. A fantastic, very complete script is now up (it's large: 200K+) - my utter gratitude to Lisa Johnstone for taking the time to create this, and for sending it to me for the site. Thank you! More Mistakes. If you missed the fifth mailing of the Amas Veritas Newsletter, be sure to sign up. I will be on vacation in August, so expect updates late next month, including more about the Halloween costume contest. And be sure to see The Others, Nicole Kidman's atmospheric ghost story, opening early August in the U.S.

5.16.01
More than 10,000 visitors to Amas Veritas! Thank you all. New merchandise suggestions from MarthaStewart.com and from Illuminations.com are now up. Also, information on how you can help to support Amas Veritas. A couple new Mistakes were added. By this time next month, the prelimanary Craft pages should finally be up. Take a look at the official site for the latest Nicole Kidman epic - Moulin Rouge. And be sure to see the movie when it comes out (June 1 in the U.S.).

4.22.01
The Aunts pages are finally up! There are now three large pages - page one and page two contain text and images, while page three contains text, images, and also links to sources for a few sewing patterns, if you want to try to recreate the Aunts look. Also, I've posted preliminary information for the Witch-For-A-Day costume contest, Halloween season 2001. One final note: be sure to buy a copy of the May 2001 Martha Stewart Living magazine; there's a beautiful article on lab ware on pages 186 to 193 - remember all those wonderful bottles, jars, beakers, and funnels in the kitchen, pantry, and conservatory?

3.16.01
5 whole months of Amas Veritas. My, how we've grown! *laugh* Here are the latest updates, in conjunction with the mailing of the second issue of the Amas Veritas Newsletter: the FAQ, which answers many of the questions that are often emailed to me, a page on Gillian's Tiger's Eye Necklace (which you can buy online), a new suggestion of the month (margarita glasses!), as well as new Glass Items that are rather beautiful, some fabulously sale-priced Candles (sure to sell out), and a few new Mistakes sent in by Amas Veritas visitors. The Aunts' page is still coming - it is turning out to be much longer than I had anticipated - several pages, in fact. Also, I recently sent off for information the blueprints for the house (if there are any), and I hope to hear back eventually. Thanks to all the repeat visitors, and the new ones as well. I hope you're enjoying the site.
-Adrienne

2.20.01
The Gillian Owen's fashion page is up. As with Sally's page, I will continue to add new/better images, and information, as I get them. The Aunts are coming soon. Also, I've completed the Meschantes Corsetry web site - please take a look, and mention Amas Veritas if you order. :)

2.16.01
I apologize for the delay since the last update. I got terribly sick over the holidays, then school started again, and I've been 'hired' to create a web site for a corset maker/costumer (I'll let everyone know when it's up), which has been taking most of my free time. I have completed the Sally Owens fashion page, and will work on others this weekend. The Amas Veritas Newsletter information page is up. Also, I have some Practical Magic promotional postcards available. Please have patience, I am just so busy! Amas Veritas has been open 4 months, and I love the site even more than when it was new. I hope you feel the same. *smile*

12.16.00
I can hardly believe that it has been two months since Amas Veritas opened. I am so glad that people are enjoying the site! There have been over 3,000 visitors so far, and I hope that traffic continues to increase.
I am starting the Amas Veritas Newsletter, which will be a brief email sent out once a month or so. It will let everyone know the latest things to happen with the Amas Veritas web site, as well as Practical Magic news and information. To sign up, send an email letting me know. Please include the email address you would like the Newsletter sent to. You can send mail to me , or use the mail form. There will be a page up with more details on the Newsletter soon. I plan to have the Practical Magic fashions pages up soon. The FAQ page will be up within that time frame as well. I will start on the Craft section after the holidays, but I imagine it will take some time to do right. To find out all the latest, just sign up for the Newsletter. Happy Holidays!

12.12.00
Finals week! It's almost over... I have updated the merchandise area, adding Practical Magic items (video, script, poster, soundtrack, etc). I also updated some items which had sold out. And the prices at amazon.com for almost all of the books I've suggested have been lowered an additional $1 - $3 on each book - you should take a look at the wonderful things available. I added the December 2000 schedule of cable airings if you want to catch Practical Magic on television. Also in the works is a FAQ page, and I've started on the Fashions page - all coming soon. Thanks for your patience.

11.27.00
I apologize for the length of time since the last update. It's getting to be that time of the year... *laugh* I have finally put up the Calendar in the 'In Depth' section, though it will still be added to. I have also uploaded a Mistakes page with various filming goofs and such. Sort of fun to see how many you've already spotted. And if you know of any others mistakes, as always, please contact me. The semester will be over before long, and I will have more time to devote to the site. Thanks for all of your support and correspondence.

11.05.00
I've added three pages of promotional images (posters, magazine covers, miscellaneous) to the image galleries. I have not had time yet to activate the thumbnails, the larger versions will be up later. I've also added a page on the Aunts' Book of Shadows.

11.02.00
I am currently doing a little site redesign, so appearances may be a bit off for the next couple weeks or so. I've temporarily taken down the Sabbat/Esbat area to rethink the layout. I haven't actually made any updates - just letting everyone know what is going on.

10.31.00
Happy Halloween, everyone! In honor of this special day, the first of the Sabbat/Esbat pages is up - for today only. Please take a look and let me know what you think. Also, I had some trouble with the guestbook in the first couple days, and had to reinstall it. Please view the guestbook, and post if you would like. It's quickly becoming popular. *laugh* Have a wonderful holiday.

10.26.00
I've added a guestbook which you can view or sign, a mail form to send email directly to me, and a links page to travel to other Practical Magic sites.
I have received and set up my new monitor. I am so thrilled - a 19". It doesn't take much to please me, I suppose. *wink* My first priority is creating the page for Halloween/Samhain, which is quickly approaching.

10.23.00
It has been one week since the 'official' launching of Amas Veritas. The site has had hundreds of hits - hopefully visitors will return, and word will spread. Looking at the stats over the last week I have been reminded of how truly global this medium is. The site has had visitors from: Australia, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Greece, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nova Scotia, Peru, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and (of course) the United States. All in the first week! I find that truly amazing. And those were just the users whose country I could identify.
Note: my monitor should arrive Tuesday or Wednesday of this next week. As I have time I will be creating new areas. Thank you for all of your support, and you can always contact me with any questions, comments, or information.

10.19.00
I added a site map which leads to all of the main categories and pages. I also added this updates page. *smile* My monitor is on the blink and I am waiting for my new one to be delivered. Once that happens I will get to work on the new areas
